Future Educators Teacher, Jessica Kokoszki, conducted a push-in lesson in Mr. Abbe’s CTE ninth-grade exploratory classes, providing students with engaging, hands-on learning experiences. During the lesson, students participated in activities such as demonstrating how to perform tasks like tying a shoe or braiding hair without verbal instructions. These exercises emphasized observation, modeling and clear demonstration, all are key skills essential for future educators.
This type of lesson aligns closely with the competencies needed by students in the Future Educators Pathway. By practicing non-verbal instruction and active student engagement, participants build foundational skills that are applicable not only to future elementary and secondary teaching roles but also to careers in counseling, speech pathology, social work and other education-related fields. The experience reinforces the importance of clear communication, patience and adaptability, all qualities that are vital for any professional working with diverse learners.
