The Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at Proctor brings hands-on career exploration to students in the REDS Program. Through interactive activities and rotating stations, students in grades 4-6 are introduced to a variety of career pathways and begin thinking about what they might want to do in the future.
CTE teachers Avery Erwin-McGuire, Olivia Guanro and Jessica Kokoszki recently visited Jefferson and General Herkimer elementary schools as part of the program. They plan to visit two elementary schools each month throughout the year.
During each visit, students take part in activities that reflect real-world careers. They might build something, solve a problem or complete a challenge that shows what professionals in different fields do every day. By introducing CTE pathways at an early age, the program helps students start exploring their interests and learn about the many opportunities available to them after high school. It’s an engaging way to show students that there are many different paths to success.
